Cutting-edge sensor technology is needed to keep up with our increased demand for automated processes. Toposens is proud to provide you with a sensor that solves many of today’s existing sensors’ challenges, enabling you to realize your application.

Our sensor follows the principles of the echolocation of a bat, who can see tiny objects by emitting ultrasonic signals and receiving their reflections. We adapted this method and developed a small sensor system based on ultrasound. The Toposens 3D sensor therefore enables machines and robots to better perceive their surroundings purely with the help of ultrasound.

The sensor is designed for maximum efficiency, also with regards to build size. Ultrasonic components enable a 3D sensor that is so small that it can be applied in virtually every situation.

Sophisticated algorithms allow for streamlined processes requiring very little power. The sensor can be battery powered and thereby provides maximum mobility.

The sensor processes the recorded data directly on the system, without sending information to the cloud. The provision of 3D information is thereby enabled in real time.

Ultrasound is characterized by its high reliability. It can easily cope with harsh environmental conditions, such as adverse lighting, dirt or shocks.

While precisely locating a person’s position, the senor protects their privacy at the same time. Due to its characteristics, ultrasound does not identify any personal features.

Echolocation

The 3D Ultrasound Sensor uses the principle of echolocation to locate objects and people:
The sensor emits ultrasonic signals, which are reflected by the objects in the sensor’s range. The signals travel back to the sensor and are processed directly in the sensor system itself. Our sophisticated algorithms enable the precise calculation of the objects’ position.
